What Electrical Components We Chose and Why<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

  • Motors<\/strong> – to push a wall that compresses the BVM<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Arduino <\/strong>– to be the brain of the device<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Motor Drivers<\/strong> – to drive the motors with code to go at a set rate and speed <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Limit Switch<\/strong> – for the compression wall to identify when it reaches “home” in terms of linear distance<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • LCD Screen<\/strong> – to display the pressure of the patients’ lungs and warm user when to stop the device<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • AC\/DC 12V Adapter<\/strong> – to provide primary power to the device<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 12V DC Rechargeable Battery<\/strong> – to provide backup power when needed<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • DC 12V Fan<\/strong> – to dissipate heat inside the device due to the use of the motors and motor drivers<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 3-Way Switch<\/strong> – to allow the user to switch between off, wall power, & battery power<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Emergency Stop<\/strong> – to ensure the capability of the user to quickly cease all power to the device in an emergency state<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • LED Light<\/strong> – to indicate to the user that the device is powered on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Revision 1:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Our mounting holes were not grounded and neither were any of the Arduino rails!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Revision 2:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    We ordered this one by mistake and meant to order what is “Revision 3” instead. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Revision 3: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Our final revision but it could have used a little more cleanup. The main focus of this revision was putting the output and input terminals near where they will actually be in the housing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    First Motor Setup<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Here is the first wiring setup we had to test the motors and motor drivers on the compression panel subsystem. It took a long time to get the code working but once it did we were super excited!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Motor and LCD\/Pressure Sensor Subsystems Integration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The next quarter we were able to start the integration of these separate subsystems to merge onto one Arduino in order to draft the final main code.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    All Electrical Systems Integrated Into the Housing<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Once testing of ensuring the PCB worked we were able to wire it into the mechanical engineer’s housing and finalize sizing and cutting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
