ETM has created a Remote Teaching Template* that you can import into your courses.  This template provides the following:

  • A homepage into which you can cut and paste information specific to you and your course
  • Information for students regarding technology, accommodations, communication, and netiquette
  • A sample course layout which will prompt you to include weekly overviews, assignments, rubrics, etc.
  • SPU images, fonts, and buttons

*Note: You can delete anything you like from the template.  It is simply offered as a means to make the course-building process easier for you. Some schools have or will have their own version of this template.

Important:  You should only import this template into your course one time to avoid overwriting your changes.

To import the template into your course:

  1. Go into your course.
  2. Select “import from Commons” on the right side of the screen.
  3. Click “filter.”
  4. Click toggle to “Only Seattle Pacific University Approved Resources.”
  5. Click the x to close the filter.
  6. Click the course titled “Remote Teaching Template.”
  7. Click “Import/Download”
  8. Click the check box next to the course you want to import the template into,
  9. Click “Import into course.”
  10. You can import the whole template or “select content” to just import part of the template.  If you’re adding the template to an existing Canvas course that already has content, feel free to ask us for advice.

ETM is happy to help you with this process.  Just email etmhelp@spu.edu.
