{"id":16,"date":"2015-07-23T20:33:14","date_gmt":"2015-07-23T20:33:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/digitalobby.spu.edu\/energy\/?page_id=16"},"modified":"2020-05-21T17:53:01","modified_gmt":"2020-05-21T17:53:01","slug":"systems","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/lane-seeley\/physics-learning-resources\/home\/systems\/","title":{"rendered":"Systems in Energy Analysis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Systems are an essential aspect of energy analysis. \u00a0Energy is always conserved but depending on the physical scenario and the system which is chosen for analysis the energy in that system may increase, decrease, or remain constant. \u00a0That&#8217;s why it can be very important to precisely specify which system you are choosing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"34\" height=\"50\" src=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2015\/07\/Question.jpg\" alt=\"Question\">Who gets to choose the system?<\/td><td>In physics you get to be &#8216;master and commander&#8217; of your choice of system. &nbsp;You choose the system and everything else is part of the environment.<\/td><td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"175\" height=\"98\" src=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2015\/07\/Master-and-Commander-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Master-and-Commander\"><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"34\" height=\"50\" src=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2015\/07\/Question.jpg\" alt=\"Question\">Doesn&#8217;t everything that effects the energy story need to be included in the system?<\/td><td>It is certainly important to consider all of the factors that effect the energy story but in physics you get the scientific license to choose your system&nbsp;for energy analysis strategically.<\/td><td><a href=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/lane-seeley\/physics-learning-resources\/home\/systems\/is-there-a-difference-between-a-physics-system-and-a-biology-system\/\">Is there a difference between a physics &#8216;system&#8217;
