is Energy?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Energy <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">is<\/span> Conserved<\/h3>\n<p>Energy is very difficult to define because it encompasses such a wide array of physical phenomena. \u00a0Energy is everywhere and it does everything you can imagine. \u00a0The most fundamental property of energy is that in all instances we know of energy is conserved. \u00a0If the idea that energy is conserved doesn&#8217;t seem incredible to you then you may not have thought about it deeply enough yet. \u00a0In every single scenario\u00a0you can think the total amount of energy stays the same. \u00a0In fact, the conservation principle is the essence of what energy is. \u00a0Perhaps the best definition of energy is that energy <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">is<\/span> conserved. \u00a0This site will provide resources for making sense of and applying the idea principle of energy conservation in a wide array of scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>Energy conservation can be understood in a couple of\u00a0different ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In all physical processes energy can <a href=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/lane-seeley\/physics-learning-resources\/home\/transfer\/\">transfer<\/a>\u00a0and change <a href=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/lane-seeley\/physics-learning-resources\/home\/table-of-energy-forms\/\">form<\/a> but it is never created or destroyed.<\/li>\n<li>The total change of energy in any system is always equal to the total energy <a href=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/lane-seeley\/physics-learning-resources\/home\/transfer\/\">transferred<\/a> into or out of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/lane-seeley\/physics-learning-resources\/home\/systems\/\">system<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Energy conservation can be quantitatively analyzed using various forms of the <a href=\"https:\/\/scholars.spu.edu\/seeley\/lane-seeley\/physics-learning-resources\/home\/quantitative-energy-analysis\/\">energy conservation
