You can also check out <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/undergraduate-time-schedule\/subjects\/WRI?start-term=201900&amp;end-term=201903&amp;term_year=20190&amp;query=&amp;attr=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">the SPU Time Schedule<\/a> for more information, including CRNs, where classes meet, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WRI 1000: Academic Inquiry and Writing Seminar<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1000<\/strong>, as taught by English professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/college-of-arts-sciences\/english-cultural-studies-department\/faculty\/hansen-traynor\">Dr. Traynor Hansen<\/a>, will study rhetoric and public discourse in American politics. MWF 930-1050<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WRI 1100: Disciplinary Research and Writing Seminar<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by writing professor Paul Anderson,  will think, talk, and write about compelling works of art, culminating with a research paper about a significant artist, artistic period, or work(s) of art. MWF 930-1050 and MWF 1100-1220<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by engineering professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/college-of-arts-sciences\/engineering-and-computer-science\/faculty-and-staff\/adam-arabian-profile\">Dr. Adam Arabian<\/a>, explores topics related to sustainable energy systems and community development. TTh 300-500<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by business professor Dr. Don Doty, will investigate a business case study. TTh 900-1100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by classics professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/college-of-arts-sciences\/languages-cultures-linguistics\/faculty-and-staff\/owen-ewald\">Dr. Owen Ewald,<\/a> will study and write about Homer&#8217;s Odyssey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by English professor Dr. Brad Freeman, will teach academic research and writing in the humanities. MWF 130-250<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by English professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/college-of-arts-sciences\/english-cultural-studies-department\/faculty\/hansen-traynor\">Dr. Traynor Hansen<\/a>, will focus on the ideas of difference and monstrousness through reading and writing about <em>Frankenstein<\/em>. MWF 1100-1220<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by Spanish professor Vilma Illanes, will be taught in Spanish and is part of SPU&#8217;s Spanish Heritage Minor. MWF 130-250<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by history professor Dr. Diana Keuss, will provide an introduction to the Buddhist path in a course designed around reading and writing for religious literacy. TTh 1250-250<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by film professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/college-of-arts-sciences\/english-cultural-studies-department\/faculty\/overstreet-jeffrey\">Jeffrey Overstreet<\/a>, will write a variety of essays about art\u2014specifically movies\u2014including film reviews, personal essays, and research papers. MWF 130-250<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by English professor Dr. Valerie Sirenko, will explore a variety of ways to analyze and write about literature, culture, and personal identities at the intersection of race, class, gender, and sexuality through an examination of Nella Larsen\u2019s novel <em>Passing<\/em>. TTh 900-1100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by nursing professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/school-of-health-sciences\/faculty-and-staff\/bomin-shim\">Dr. Bomin Shim<\/a>, will write a variety of essays that reflect on the nurse&#8217;s role, explore meaning in life in illness, and research ethical patient care guidelines . TTh 900-1100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by theatre professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/college-of-arts-sciences\/theatre\/faculty-and-staff\/vance-candace\">Candace Vance<\/a>, will focus on the writing necessary for all Theatre Directors: how to study a playscript, research a playwright and previous productions, and how to craft a Production Vision Statement. MWF 930-1050<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by psychology professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/school-of-psychology-family-community\/faculty-and-staff\/marcia-webb-profile\">Dr. Marcia Webb<\/a>, will focus on learning how to write articles for social science literature. TTh 1250-250<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WRI 1100, <\/strong>as taught by English professor <a href=\"https:\/\/spu.edu\/academics\/college-of-arts-sciences\/english-cultural-studies-department\/faculty\/willett-mischa\">Dr. Mischa Willett<\/a>, will consider the way that artistic productions\u2014sculpture, painting, poetry, short stories\u2014provide venues for thinking about God, faith, and everything else in the world.&nbsp;MWF 1100-1220<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For spring 2020, the WRI course offerings are listed below.
