Alumni Letter of Protest

As part of the sit-in on the 2nd floor of Demaray Hall, on May 23, 2022, ASSP organizes an alumni letter of protest, repeating the demands that trustees who voted to maintain the policy resign and pledging to cease donations and discourage prospective students from enrolling at SPU. Five hundred eighty-six alumni (some from as far back as the 1990s) sign the letter.

Theology Student Union Letter to Board of Trustees

On February 24, 2021, the Theology Student Union at SPU sends a letter to the Board of Trustees, objecting to the conduct policy and arguing that the Board’s stance does not align with the teaching of theology at SPU. The letter is eventually posted publicly at Queer S.P.A.C.E.

Student Senate Letter to Board of Trustees RE: Statement on Human Sexuality

In February 2021, ASSP, the SPU student governance body, votes to send a letter to the Board of Trustees, reaffirming the 2018-19 student senate proposal to revise or eliminate the Statement on Human Sexuality to allow for the hiring of LGBTQ Christians as SPU employees. The letter is eventually posted publicly at Queer S.P.A.C.E.
