NWCCU Responds to Faculty Council Complaint

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) sends a letter to the Immediate Past Chair of the faculty, stating that 1) Faculty Council’s complaint regarding SPU Board governance was investigated as part of the accreditor’s regular onsite Peer Evaluation Visit in May 2023, and 2) NWCCU considers the complaint to be addressed by Recommendation #4 in their official report: “The authority, roles, and responsibility of the Board of Trustees and all related entities (i.e., the Free Methodist Church) be clearly delineated, be described on its website and in its public documents, and provide SPU with sufficient autonomy to fulfill its mission.” SPU was found by NWCCU to be non-compliant in this area.
