Gary Ames, respected BOT member and generous donor, suddenly passes away. The Ames scholarship program for students from underrepresented communities, instituted in 2001, was a key part of a broad initiative to help diversify the campus. Board members Denise Martinez and Kevin Johnson were both former Ames Scholars at SPU.
